The provenance of this painting is unclear. It is not known from whom, how, when or under what circumstances Kunsthandel J.H. Borghouts in Utrecht acquired the painting. Kunsthandel De Boer acquired the painting from Borghouts in September 1940. De Boer then sold it to Baldur von Schirach in 1941 through the Dienststelle Mühlmann.
