The provenance is inconclusive. It is unknown how, when or under what circumstances the private collector Pierson from Baarn acquired this painting. Pierson consigned the painting to Kunsthandel Hoogendijk, Amsterdam. Hoogendijk subsequently sold the painting to artdealer Böhmer from Güstrow (Germany).
